The Kaeme Empreendimentos and Consultoria was found in February 1994, in Vila Velha (Estate of Espírito Santo, Brazil). Its goal is to offer engineering projects and supervision consulting services for road constructions. The first contract signed was the execution of topographical services for the construction of CAIC (Full Time Child Attendance Center) schools in the state of the Espirito Santo. Eighteen (18) units were completely pre-manufactured with grouting, transported and set with Kaeme topographic support in a variety of places.

In 1997, within the TRANSCOL program, Kaeme offered technical support in supervising geotechnical and topography works for the State Department of Public Works, and in the construction of highways and Bus Stations.

In 1999, in partnership with TRAFECON Consultoria and Projetos de Engenharia Ltda, Kaeme elaborated for DNIT (National Department of Transport Infra-structure/ 17th UNIT) the road engineering final projects to be applied in the construction of Colatina (ES) contour at highway 259; and, in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim (ES) the contour at highway 482. These projects were the gateway to the development of many other public or private projects, having Petrobrás (Brazilian Gas and Oil Company) as a main client.

Kaeme initiates in 2001 its activities involving the appliance of steel slag at the coating of pavements base and sub-base. It includes the development of reduction “in natura” of steel slag potential expansion, using specific granulometry for its application.

ArcelorMittal Tubarão (previously CST) offers 20.000 m2 of its internal area for the reduction of steel slag potential expansion, thus, inviting Kaeme to perform the treatment. Afterwards, the steel slag expansion reduction in up to 3% (PTM 130 method) was given the name of ACERITA® (patent) – Kaeme the co-author of such co-product.

In 2004, the ARCELORMITTAL Tubarão signs an agreement with DNIT/IPR (Institute of Road Research) with the objective to normalize the use of ACERITA® in the sub-base layers and base of road paving. In that occasion, Kaeme is invited to integrate the technical team in this original Brazilian standard research, due to recognized know-how gathered in this area.

The Kaeme Empreendimentos and Consultoria is a company selected by Petrobra and CST (current ARCELORMITTAL Tubarão) to join the PRODFOR - Integrated Program of Suppliers Development and Qualification, having as reference the ISO 9001:2000, added to the Environment and Work Safety, qualified for the following services:

2. Geotechnical and Topography Studies
3. Road Works Supervision
4. Road Technical Consulting Services

In 2008, Kaeme is again invited by the ArcelorMittal and DNIT/IPR - Institute of Road Research, to constitute the board of researchers in the study of the steel slag generated by the unit in Piracicaba.
